The culture of the 1960s was much more heterodox than it is portrayed nowadays. The Beverly Hillbillies were probably more popular than the Beatles in a lot of American communities. Likewise The Twilight Zone and Star Trek probably had a larger cultural footprint than the Rolling Stones.
